“The Raven – a musicabre“, the third of my Edgar Allan Poe short film musical adaptations, may be recently completed, but won’t be playing festivals until 2027. Still, I can whet the appetite by releasing the first set of screenshots from the film today.
In most of them you can see me, as the Narrator, experiencing a series of … reactions…

All these stills are taken directly from the film’s footage. However, although you will see these moments just as they are reproduced here, they won’t appear in the actual film exactly as you would expect to from looking at a movie still.
There is … how shall I put this … more to it …
And that’s all I will reveal about that for now …

Yes, that’s a lot of me. “The Raven – a musicabre” is another “one-man-musical” like “The Tell-Tale Heart – a musicabre” and “The Pit and the Pendulum – a musicabre” before it. But my faccia brutta doesn’t dominate the screen; there are other subjects that capture the camera’s eye and fill the screen.
For example many varied and fascinating locations. Here a glimpse of one:

I’ll tell you more about this fascinating place in a later blog piece… as well as all the many other fascinating places where I filmed. (Actually I’ve already shared about one of them…)
And I’m not the only person visible in the film. Edward Elder, my husband, as the “Masked Man”, again fulfills his role as “my own personal Hitchcock cameo” – by which I mean he has been seen in all my Poe musicabre films, and I intend that he shall be seen in every one of my films.

But Ed can also be spotted without the mask in certain scenes… (see him?) …

Here is a … counterpart … to the above scene/shot …

And a reminder that I am not only adapting Poe, I am also playing him, or a version of him, in this film, in addition to the main role as the narrator.

Above and below, me as Poe and me as the Narrator, alone in the black…

The final three screenshots I will share are the ones that I’d already introduced on previous posts and which currently adorn the Raven mainpage.
Again, more fascinating locations worth being curious about, don’t you agree? I promise I will reveal more about all of them and more beyond that in the months to come…
