PRIDE SATURDAY at the BROOKLYN MUSEUM

It being June, Pride Month, the Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturday was a celebration of Queer community and art.

NYC Gay Men’s Chorus performs Andra Day’s “Rise Up”

The Beaux Arts Court was turned into a fair for queer figure drawing, djs and pop up markets.

In the members lounge, a “curated” card game invited art-centered discussion.

Bertha Vanayshun hosted a Drag History tour in the auditorium, highlighting historical LGBTQ figures represented in the museum, each followed by an apropos drag performance.

Wendy Carlos pioneered the creation of Moog Synthesizer as well as transitioning in the 1960s. She dressed in “boy drag” when filmed for a documentary on the Moog in the 1970s.

Which was the cue to give the evening’s dj, Aimee Amour, their solo.

The evening closed with a cheeky pop quiz on what was learned, with prizes to be won. The audience ended up shouting the answers for some of the more hapless contestants. All in good fun.
